The civil rights movement affected others such as the LGBT, American Indians, and Hispanic because seeing African Americans rise up and united as one showed the strength that was unstoppable if African Americans worked together. It was such a powerful movement because African Americans gained their rights that should of been theirs in the first place. 

The principle that george w. bush used to keep white house communications confidential would be executive privilege. but i maybe wrong : )
