Why did southern colonies use fewer natural resources than other colonies

Because they farmed the resources they had and were much less reliant on natural resources as all they needed was land

Fertile plains and long summers allowed southern colonies to focus on agriculture", since agriculture was the primary power-source behind the South's economy.
