Several political causes contributed to the american revolution. parliament passed acts that disturbed the colonists. these acts included the , which required the colonists to provide food and shelter to the soldiers stationed in the colonies. parliament also passed the writs of assistance, which allowed british officials to the colonists’ without prior notice.

the tariff was created to protect industry in the northern part of the united states. industries in the north were being driven out of business by imported goods that were priced at a low rate. the goal was to protect these industries   by taxing the goods.
