The 13th amendment is an extremely important piece of legislation. This amendment will abolish slavery in the country, as well as involuntary servitude except as punishment for a crime. I am sure you all understand how important this is. The amendment will contribute to making all citizens equal under the law. Moreover, it will reflect the kind and fair spirit that defines this nation. Many people worry that the passage of this amendment will lead to a crisis of labor. However, let me assure you that the workers we require will continue to exist. However, they will now be paid a fair wage which will allow them to fully enjoy their rights and privileges as citizens.
