This is an excerpt from edmund burke's "notes for speech in parliament, 3 february 1766". he's basically talking about how he wants america's legislature to have representation from the peoples unlike somebody else *cough* england *cough* before this sentence. explain it simplified because i can't understand what he's trying to say for the life of me.

"is there a single trait of resemblance between those few towns, and a great and growing people spread over a vast quarter of the globe, separated from us by a mighty ocean? "
