Germany was the main defeated in the First World War. The country was humiliated and had to accept the impositions of the winning countries in the Treaty of Versailles.

In this context, Germany lost its colonies, was forbidden to have armed forces, was found guilty of the war and had to pay compensation to the victors. Thus, Germany lost territories and lots of money, plunging in the biggest economic crisis of its history.
