" This uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them," David said, "because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine" (1 Samuel 17:36-37). David went out to the battle without armor, and killed Goliath with a slingshot stone to the head. He then cut off Goliath's head with Goliaths' own sword, and Israel won the ensuing battle in a rout.
