Explanation:

The US significantly almost doubled in size. The borders of Mexico and Canada had reduced due to the 1846 Treaty of Oregon and the American-Mexican War. This allowed the US to set a path as one of the World's superpowers in the future with influence in the Pacific and Atlantic. Industrialization had spiked with more opportunities coming from the West. With this expansion of territory, the US was now rivaling that of the European powers such as Britain, France, Spain, Russia, etc.
