List 3 ways America broke away from isolationism and became a world power (socially, politically, or militarily)

Socially- American ideals such as democracy and freedom made the people feel as though the U.S. could spread those ideals to other countries to ensure peace and promote trade.

Politically- The government would want to gain international attention because it promotes all other assets of a society like the economy and national image.

Militarily- We all know now that the U.S. has the largest and some consider the best military in the world. Though this military was originally created to spread American ideals through imperialism, over time the military became entirely to defend the United States and to promote world peace or intimidate for world peace.

All three of these were heavily boosted by the U.S. being a economical and industrial powerhouse entering and coming out of WW2. When your own nation is prosperous you began to look at others. Also once the U.S. stopped being timid and did not practice isolationism as much it truly became a world power and some might consider the world power.

4. george h w bush: despite many presidents had important roles in managing and trying to end the cold war, it was in bush sr's mandate that the berlin wall was materially destroyed, and he was visited by gorbachev in the uspresident from 1989 to 1993.

5. clinton: defense of marriage act. clinton signed this controvesial act, which defined marriage and spouses in strict heterosexual perspective, that was later declard unconstitutional by the us supreme court.

6. george w bush: in the begining of his presidency, which lasted until 2009, bush jr faced the greatest terrorist attacks in us and probably the worlds history, in september, 11 of 2001.

7. obama: in attempts to cease a great economical crisis, barack obama signed the controversial recovery act in february 2009, which handled 780-billion dollars.
