They also come in contact with new cultures in the regions they visit. As a result, the merchants share their beliefs with the people they meet, and they also pick up new ideas themselves. The primary way in which trade encouraged the development of the Renaissance is that although the main ideas of the Renaissance began in Italy, these traders would travel from Italy to the rest of Europe and bring with them the news, goods, and other things about the Renaissance that caught the interest of Europeans.
