Theme:
Foreign Policy Change
Nations design their foreign policies to protect and promote their vital interests. At the beginning of the 20th century, the United States foreign policy underwent a number of significant changes.

Task:
Using your knowledge of United States history and government write an essay in which you
-identify two (2) of the changes in foreign policy at the beginning of the 20th century
-discuss the motivations and background for each change
-explain how each change reflected the vital interests of the US at the time

Suggestions:
You may use your knowledge of any of the changes in United States policy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some suggestions you may wish to consider include: annexation of overseas colonies, expansion of trade, intervention in internal affairs of other nations, or involvement in international conflicts.
