This legislative [power] is not only the supreme power of the [government], but [it is also] sacred and unalterable in the hands where the community have once placed it…[The] consent of the society, over whom no body can have a power to make laws, but by their own consent, and by authority received.

this caused the country to gain wealth and money and become an international superpower. it improved transportation and manufacturing inside the country, pushed people to live in urban areas and britain to become the most powerful nation in the world for a while.
