Thomas Paine, who served in the Greene army, published a series of brochures called The American Crisis, in which he tried to lift the spirits of his countrymen. The first issue came out on December 23. In this series of writings, Paine described the difficulties that the Patriots had, such as the weather, the great heat they had to go through, the lack of weapons and the inconveilers that had the weapons and the lack of training, in these writings, Paine asked citizens to help and encourage convalescents.
