Some politicians are arguing that the United States should close its doors or otherwise greatly limit immigration of all but the most highly-skilled workers. If such a policy were implemented, beyond the racial implications, how would the United States lose out in terms of diversity and other long-term benefits? Can you think of a scenario where it would actually help a family economically to allow immigration of less-skilled workers or even those who don’t work at all?
