His ability to dream, plan and strategize on a large scale allowed him to win many battles, even when he was outnumbered. Another reason why he was great was because he helped motivate his men, who knew they were part of one of the greatest conquests in history. Alexander spread Greek culture  throughout the Persian Empire, including parts of Asia and Africa. Alexander encouraged his soldiers to marry Persian women, in this way, the children of these marriages would share. Alexander brought ideas from other cultures back to Greece by encouraging a blending of eastern and western cultures when he had married a persian woman and urged his soldiers to follow his example.
