1. What similarities do you see between Hammurabi's code and the Bible and the Quran?

The Quran, the central religious text of Islam, contains references to more than fifty people and events also found in the Bible. While the stories told in each book are generally comparable, there are also some notable differences.

The Code of Hammurabi focused exclusively on criminal and civil laws and meted out harsh, and sometimes brutal, punishments. The Ten Commandments provided justice, but it also dealt with spiritual laws and personal and national holiness. The Ten Commandments dealt with the cause of crime, not just its effects.
