George Herbert Walker Bush was the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993. During his tenure, he supported political and economic transformations in Central and Eastern Europe, and after the collapse of the USSR, he initiated peaceful cooperation with Russia. During his presidency, the United States conducted a military intervention in Panama and military operations during the First Gulf War, aimed at free Kuwait from Saddam Hussein's Iraq invasion.  In addition, NAFTA was negotiated with Canada and Mexico, but entered into force after Bush resigned.
