From one perspective, world war 2 can be viewed as essentially a continuation of the conflict that began in world war 1, with merely a long suspension of hostilities between the two. From another perspective, World War 2 can be viewed as a unique conflict in its own right, which engulfed the entire globe on an unprecedented scale. Which perspective do you find more persuasive?
