What did it take to run a plantation? what did Eliza Lucas Pinckney believe made her successful?

As the British colonists settled in Virginia, the plantation scheme arose in the American South and split the land into large areas suitable for planting. The need for farm labor contributed to the establishment of slavery because the economy of the South relied on the production of crops.

Eliza used her 1744 crop to make seed and shared it with other planters, leading to an expansion in indigo production. She proved that colonial planters could make a profit in an extremely competitive market.
