Name 1 reason the Senate rejected the Annexation Treaty of 1844

So, I have the Texas History book right in front of me. I have this same question. (look on page 374) it says:

The Senate overwhelmingly rejected it by a vote of 35 to 16. Some senators opposed the treaty because Texas allowed slavery.
