For this project, you'll assume the identity of a middle-class merchant man or woman living during the Renaissance. If you're a young woman, your name will be Mary Allsworth. If you're a young man, John Gooden.
Your assignment is to "find out" as much as you can about your new identity. Using what you've learned in this chapter as
well what you gather through a little research, decide how you look, act, and think in your Renaissance identity.
Here are some of the things you'll want to discover:
• what kind of clothing you wear
• what type of education you've had
• famous people whom you know
• a recent invention that fascinates you, or maybe two
• your favorite artist
• a book you read recently
• your favorite music
• your favorite composer
As you make your character "come alive," be sure that you remember to use legitimate facts, people, and places that
correspond to Renaissance life.
