The United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with one of the highest standards of living in the world as well. The average income per household in the US is over 60,000 dollars a year, which is again, one of the highest in the world.

Under these measures, we can say that many, if not most people, have attained a version of the American Dream.

However, it is also true that income and wealth inequality in the United States have continue to widen, that education and healthcare costs have risen a lot, and that there are still racial disparities in the U.S. For these reasons, many people in the country have not been able to attained their perception of the American Dream, although they are not likely to be the majority.

the phenomenon that would be cited as evidence of increased economic interdependence between europe and the americas is  the development of mercantilism.

this theory suggests that the wealth of a country depends on its economic assets, or capital.
