What reason does the author give to refute Grinde and Johansen's claim? The Iroquois system of government was not a true confederation. The colonists were not interested in creating a central government. The government of the Iroquois League was poorly organized and inefficient. The Iroquois form of government did not necessarily serve the needs of colonists.
