Thomas Jefferson borrowed heavily from the Enlighten Philosopher John Locke in writing the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson stated that "all men are created equal and have unalienable rights." On the other side I don't believe that Jefferson believed in equality as he was holding slaves himself, thus showing that he don't believe in that idea truly.
