Why was Haden Edwards' land grant in Nacogdoches canceled by President Victoria in 1826?

In addition, Edwards refused to comply with the ruling of Texas political chief, José Antonio Saucedo, who overturned the results of the election for the colony alcalde. José Antonio Saucedo ruled that the new settlers were not qualified to vote and gave the position to Samuel Norris. However, Edwards ignored the ruling and kept his son-in-law, Chichester Chaplin, in the position. These things led President Victoria to cancel Edwards’ land grant.
