We can think of Cuba's communism, widely supported by the Soviet Union.

Because Fidel Castro embraced communism, the Soviet Union supported it economically and militarily. The Soviet Union became the only export market for Cuban manufactured goods.  

Thus, until the collapse of the Soviet Union, the USSR offered massive support to Cuba because it supported and practiced the form of government enthroned by Castro in Cuba.
