Currently, UNESCO estimates that by the year 2100 between 50% and 90% of the world's languages will have disappeared. Why is this happening? Do you consider this a
problem? Why do you feel this way? What does this say, if anything, about the world of
the 21" century? We are currently in the 6th mass extinction of species in the Earth's
history with extinction occurring at 1000 times the normal rate. Is human cultural
extinction much different than species extinction? What is the process at work in both
cases?
