Define and explain humanism.

Humanism is a rationalist outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters.

it is a belief that human needs and values are more important than religious beliefs, or the needs and desires of humans. An example of humanism is the belief that the person creates their own set of ethics.

They reject the idea of knowledge 'revealed' to human beings by gods, or in special books.

In 1961 Webster's Third New International Dictionary defined religious humanism as "A modern American movement composed chiefly of non-theistic humanists and humanist churches and dedicated to achieving the ethical goals of religion without beliefs and rites resting upon superstition."
