During the first half of the 1800s, there were great differences between the north and the south of the United States, which were what later motivated the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861.

Thus, in economic terms, the economy of the north was much more developed and industrialized than that of the south, since it had manufacturing production in large cities, as well as an incipient metallurgical industry driven by the expansion of the railway and a booming industry. of boat manufacturing.
