After World War II, the US planned to stop the spread of communism with the
, which promised economic aid to any country as long as they promised to remain
democratic. Another plan called the Doctrine promised economic and
military aid to any country threatened by communism or dictatorship. Overall, these
plans wanted to keep communism bottled up. Many people believed that
