How did the exchange of goods and ideas over the silk roads impact world history

Yes it carried goods and information, but it also carried religions, ideas, diseases, etc. because the Mongols looked over it, it was relatively safe and thats why a lot of people used it to transfer their luxury goods and other things. It was a major trade route and without it, things surely would’ve been different.
