If you lived in suburbia chances are you could probably afford a car. By the 1950s farms weren't as much as a majority as they were back in the 1800s, so B is ruled out as well as A. Racism was still a pretty big thing in the '50s, and I believe that was when the "separate but equal" stuff was going on.
