They often walked by (insulae, villas, temples) dedicated to specific gods or goddesses, or saw public art that praised specific gods. (Mercury, Jupiter, Mars) was often the focus of praise because of his role as a king of the gods, but his wife, (Minerva, Juno, Aphrodite) was also frequently honoured by Romans.
