However, due to bad investments of its rulers, Egypt begins to weaken, and then European powers begin to manage the debt that Egypt had. Dissatisfied with such management by the great powers, "Urabi Revolt" happened in response to and the desire to end the European intervention. Because of this, Britain entered the war with Egypt in 1882. in response to the rebellion, sending its navy. The bombing of Alexandria marked the British victory. Thus, the British have protected their economic interests. Viceroy or Kediv technically ruled Egypt, but the country was under the control of the British.
