The one common process that resulted in the emergence or the creation of new states in the second half of the twentieth century is Decolonization.

Decolonization is the long, arduous, and frequently violent process by which colonies attain self-determination from the colonial metropolitan authority.

Although decolonization can be regarded as a period of post-colonial colonialism, neocolonialism means that decolonization was either incomplete or abandoned in order to preserve a form of metropolitan or imperial dominance.

Decolonization. This is a process that enabled certain countries to gain independence, or precisely to deliberate themselves from the hands of European colonial powers. This process was mostly connected to Africa and Asia.

Explanation:

After WW2 it became obvious that system of colonies is not acceptable anymore. African countries started asking for independence, and most of them gained it peacefully. Still, although they gained independence, they were economically depending of the countries that colonized them.
