You will be doing research and explaining the core ideals of the two party system as
well as some independent third parties. You can compare or explain their ideals by making
a chart, Venn diagram, table, poster board or any other way which would make it easy to
pick out the important traits of each. Such issues as gun control, abortion, education,
welfare are just a few you will notice while researching.
YOU have the freedom of doing any method you choose for comparing the
different political areas. You can list differences and some similarities. You can compare
Republicans, Democrats and Third Parties in general or you can go a step farther and
choose a particular Republican candidate and look up his/her ideologies and compare with
an Independent and a Democrat candidate. Whatever the case, the purpose of this lesson is
to research the two party system and prepare you to dive deeper into political ideology.

presidential candidate example (past or present) which would fall under each category.
