Untill the Rebirth or Renaissance the dogmas of the church still ruled the world but with the rise of humanism (Erasmus, Thomas More, Martin Luther and many others) the doors to a more human approach (faith in humans instead of God) were opened in many ways. In the arts this was visible for example in the music: The vocal music (religiously inspired) lost ground to the rise of instrumental music (Kapsberger) that experimented with improvisation and more creative freedom.
