It must be stated that the student union originated from University of California in 1964. They continue to grow and later become part of the NEW Left which was a political movement.

The student protest during the 1960s' was as result of the agitation for freedom of speech on campuses  but changed into another twist due to the involvement of the U.S government in the Vietnam war which they believe it is not necessary and avoidable.

However, during the war, students through there protest burn draft cards and were seen chanting slogans like “Hey, hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?” during the protest.
