The Union Republics were the executive units that subordinated straightly to the Government of Soviet Union. The Union comprised of 15 Soviet Socialist Republics; some of the Union Republics were additionally subdivided into different Autonomous republics later on.

The independent republics were established for specific nations. Whereas the Political or executive divisions of the US are numerous entities that collectively form the U.S. The United State is subdivided into the state.
