The three clauses the framers added to the US constitution state that the US Congress shall have Power to:

(1) Regulate commerce with foreign Nations

(2)Regulate commerce among the several States

(3) Regulate commerce with the Indian Tribes

The primary use of the Clause as added by the framers was to preclude the kind of discriminatory state legislation that had once been permissible. Secondly, It is in response to rapid industrial development and an increasingly interdependent national economy. The framers intent of including the Commerce Clause was to create normal or regular commerce between the states, More so it was designed to push trade and exchange not restrict it. The Commerce Clause however represents one of the most fundamental powers delegated to the Congress by the framers of the constitution.
