Boudica led the rebellion as her kingdom was annexed wrongfully from her after the death of her husband.

Recent rebellions of the sort include one by The Queen of Jhansi against the British after her husband died and the British came to annex the kingdom according to the Doctrine of Lapse.

In this case however, The Queen of Jhansi had a newborn son who could claim the throne by the law.
