How did the French and Haitian Revolution‘s lead to the United States acquisition of the Louisiana territory?

France was being led by Napoleon, and his goal was to have a huge empire that included the parts of the United States, hence why he had that territory in the first place. however, when the haitains revolted it led napoleon to find out the goal wouldnt be able to happen without the island of Haiti because of its resources. So when the US offered to buy the Lousiana territory he said yes since he knew that the goal couldnt be accomplished. Hope this makes sense:)
