The United Nations passed a resolution calling for the creation of two states in the former British Mandate of Palestine, one Arab state and a Jewish state. Refusing to accept Israel´s existence, Arab armies from Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan attacked the state of Israel. The Israelis prevailed and defeated all their enemies.
