Those armies would have to continue to be tied in the Eastern Front. Even after the Russian withdrawal from the conflict, the Allies won the war thanks to the United States´ joining the Allied camp in 1917. The American involvement tipped the balance in favor of the Allies and in the end, the evaporation of the Eastern Front didn´t have a decisive impact on the final outcome of WWI.
