Did the united states make the right choose in not getting involved in the war until pearl harbor?

I believe the United states didn't make the right chose in not getting involved in the war until pearl harbor because I feel that if we had been in the war in the first place more lives would have been lost but pearl harbor wouldn't have been able to happen cause we would be there to stop them

i think it was because of how protected egyptian civilization was was which allowed them to evolve without much outside influence.
