Voting rights speech was delivered by President Lyndon Johnson in the joint session of the congress. It was a persuasive speech which urged the congress  to pass the voting rights of the African Americans which would protect the rights of the minorities.

Civil  rights act made it possible to  smash the Jim Crow laws which denoted segregation of the African Americans to be  constitutional. He also said that US government is responsible to the black citizens and held democracy to be at its zenith for the first time. He also removed restrictions on the immigration based on Racism.
