In the short term, the fall of the Berlin Wall accelerated the end of communism in Europe and it started a process that led to German reunification after almost half a century of two separate states. Another major outcome is the evolution of the communist regime in China, which made succesful economic reforms that have allowed robust growth and fast modernization, and it is now a major emerging power.
