The "Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo" was signed in 1848 which marked the end of the Mexican-American war.  

Mexico gave up all the claims of Texas to United States and also recognized the "Rio Grande" as America's southern boundary. In return, U.S. paid $18 million to Mexico. Later the United States even bought the rest of present-day Arizona and New Mexico from Mexico for $10 million. With this agreement, U.S. had completed its acquisition from one coast to another. Mexico received cash for the same.
