The North American Free trade deal is signed by the USA, Mexico, and Canada (NAFTA), which took effect on the 1st of January 1994. (Free trade between the Canada prevailed, and the agreements were extended by NAFTA.)

US jobs were lost because Mexican manufacturing work was cheaper (nearly 80%). U.S. wages have been suppressed, as the option of plants losing or unions has been reduced by unions.  

The farmers in Mexico have been ignored as U.S. maize and many Harvests are selling below value. In addition, Maquiladora employees were highly exploited, without labor or health safeguards, where manufacturing plants are duty-free and tax-free.
