Major General Clarence Leonard Tinker was the first native of the country to attain the 'Major General' rank in the US military.

He was regarded as a very great warrior and was killed during the World war II when the plane he flew in lost control and went missing. He was also the first U.S. Army general officer to be killed during the aforementioned war . He however served the country for 30 years which spanned from 1912-1942.  

Due to his tenacity and outstanding performances in the US military , the Tinker Air Force Base situated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma which was his birthplace and hometown was named in his honor on October 14,1942.
